The meeting commenced with a welcome address by Dr. G. Valsala, Vice President,

CTEF Kerala, followed by the Chairman’ s address by Dr. M. S. Geetha. In her address,

Dr. M S Geetha consolidated the meeting’ s agenda and provided an overview of the

proceedings and also reflected on the key discussions from the previous meeting.

AGENDA 1: REPORT OF THE LAST EXECUTIVE MEETING

The report of the last executive meeting was presented by Sreekutty, S S Office Secretary, CTEF Kerala. Only the review of the CTEF National Convention has been covered.

AGENDA 2 : FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT FOR THE YEAR 2025

A detailed report of the financial management for the year 2025 was presented by

Dr. Premachandran P, Treasure, CTEF Kerala.

Expected Income for the Year 2025

CTEF Kerala has planned a variety of income-generating avenues for the year, estimating a total income of ₹3,40,000.00. The key sources include:

  1. Membership Fees
    • Individual (25 members × ₹1000): ₹25,000
    • Research Scholars (20 × ₹500): ₹10,000
    • Institutional (5 × ₹3000): ₹15,000
      Subtotal: ₹50,000
  2. Annual Conference Contribution: ₹10,000
  3. Donations/Fundraising Initiatives: ₹50,000
  4. Book Publication Processing Fees
    • Estimated 50 contributors: ₹1,00,000
  5. Sponsorship for Awards: ₹10,000
  6. Fees from Research Methodology Courses / FDPs

This plan reflects CTEF Kerala’s focus on sustainability, resource mobilization, and quality programming in the year ahead. Efficient fund allocation is expected to support academic initiatives, training programs, and recognition of excellence in teacher education.

Prof. Dr. V. Reghu raised an important query regarding the practical feasibility of conducting Online Talks. In response, Dr. Premachandran assured that such matters will be addressed.

Dr. Premachandran also reported that after the last CTEF Convention, five new life members, three research scholars, and two institutions have joined the organization. A total of Rs. 11,500 has been collected in this regard.

AGENDA 3: MEMBERSHIP CAMPAIGN:

Dr. M. S. Geetha highlighted the progress of the ongoing membership campaign. She noted that 14 district coordinators have been selected from across Kerala to lead the initiative.

Dr. M. S. Geetha mentioned that similar efforts were initiated during the time of Dr. Sivadasan Pillai, and the current campaign is a continuation of that legacy.

AGENDA 4: CTEF Publications & Other Related Matters

In relation to the publication wing of CTEF, Dr. M S Geetha announced that Dr. Bindu C.M., has agreed to serve as the Chief Editor of upcoming CTEF publication. Additionally,

Dr Anees Mohammed C is willing to edit a book on General theme. Interested members are encouraged to contribute chapters for inclusion. Two books are scheduled to be released by September or October. Members were also urged to support and promote the publication campaign actively.

 

 

The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Premachandran P., Treasurer, CTEF Kerala. The meeting concluded at 7.30 PM.

An important Intimation on Publication of books:

                              CTEF is pleased to announce the publication of two books, as decided by the executive committee held on 22- 04-2025.The books include a research volume and a general theme book with the editors appointed for each. Dr Bindu C M, Head of the Dept. of Education, Calicut University will edit  the Research volume and Dr Anees Mohammed, Farooq Training College will oversee the general theme book. ONLINE EXECUTIVE MEETING

Duties and Responsibilities of District Coordinators of CTEF Kerala


The District Coordinators of the Council for Teacher Education Foundation (CTEF) play a vital role in promoting the objectives of CTEF at the grassroots level. Their duties involve academic, and organizational responsibilities that contribute to the development of teacher education in their respective districts. The general duties of District Coordinators typically include the following:
1. Academic Coordination
• Organize seminars, workshops, conferences, and awareness programs for teacher educators, student-teachers, and practicing teachers.
• Promote innovative teaching practices and educational research at the district level.
• Encourage academic collaborations among teacher education institutions in the district.
• Facilitate discussions on current trends, policies, and challenges in education/ teacher education.
2. Membership Drive
• Make a list of Teacher Education Institutions( Govt./ Aided /Self Financing) in the district
• Enrol new life members ( Teacher Educators and Research Scholars) and institutional members into the CTEF.
• Encourage institutions to join CTEF as Institutional members and execute a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with CTEF
• Maintain a proper record of members/institutional members in the district.
• Motivate teacher educators and students to actively participate in CTEF activities.
3. Communication and Liaison
• Act as a link between the State/Regional/National CTEF leadership and the district-level institutions.
• Disseminate information about CTEF programs, publications, and initiatives to members in the district.
• Submit periodic reports and updates on district-level activities to the State Co ordinator/ Gen Secretary or Chairman.
4. Organizing District-Level Programs
• Plan and conduct academic and professional development events such as:
• District-level educational exhibitions
• Teachers' meets
• Student-teacher competitions
• Community-based outreach programs
5. Documentation and Reporting
• Maintain records of district-level events and prepare annual activity reports.
• Submit reports and recommendations to the State CTEF body for review and planning.
6. Support for CTEF Publications
• Encourage members to contribute research articles, case studies, and reports to CTEF journals and newsletters.
• Facilitate the dissemination of CTEF publications to teacher education institutions.
7. Strategic Planning
• Identify the needs and challenges of teacher education in the district and suggest action plans to the State Executive.
• Work towards the realization of CTEF's vision of building a strong, reflective, and socially committed teacher education system.
8. Monitoring and Evaluation
• Ensure that district-level institutions align their educational practices with the values and standards promoted by CTEF.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of programs organized under CTEF and recommend improvements.

Opening Remarks

The meeting commenced with a silent prayer, followed by a welcome address by Prof. Dr. Nimmi Maria Oommen, General Secretary, CTEF Kerala. Dr Grace Annie Mathews, Prof.V Reghu , Dr Bindu TV, Dr Anees Mohammed informed their inability to attend the meeting.

Review of National Convention – 2025

• Dr. M.S. Geetha, Chairman, CTEF Kerala presented an overview of the National Convention, expressing gratitude to all organizing committee members. Key points included:

• For the Convention , 69 CTEF members registered, with about 30 attended on the first day.

• Appreciation was extended to Sri Narayanan, the Manager of the host college, Dr. Anil Kumar, the Principal, Dr Asok Nochad, the Co-ordinator and all event organizers from the college for their efforts.

• Various committees, including Finance, Program, Publication, Documentation, Transport and Accommodation, Cultural programme, Media and Paper Presentation, functioned efficiently.

• The Chairman acknowledged the physical presence and efforts of CTEF Members Prof. K Sivarajan , Prof K Y Benedict, Prof Rajeswari K, Prof. V Reghu, Dr V M Sasikumar ( for the preplanning ), Dr. Sam V. Daniel, Prof. Malini P M, Prof. Bindu C M, Dr Sajan K S, Dr Anila Chacko, Dr Anees Mohammed, Dr UmerFarooque ,Dr G Valsala, Dr TK Mathew, Dr Anwar K, Dr Saramma Chandi, Dr Anu Krishnan, Dr K J Suresh, Dr Arun kumar P, Dr Joseph Kacharayil, Dr Sankara Narayanan Paleeri,Dr Mridula,Dr Dinesan, Dr Premachandran P (Treasurer) for serving as the conveners and members of various committees in the conference.

• Also appreciated the efforts taken online by the Gen Secretary Prof Nimmi Maria Oommen and Smt Sreekutty (Office Secretary).

Financial and Organizational Support:

• The Chairman was thankful the efforts of Dr. T. Sundaresan Nair and Dr. Premachandran P., Treasurer, for auditing the account and presented in a well defined manner.

• She was also grateful for the support rendered by Dr Sajan K S for rendering the technical support and online certificate distribution services which greatly contributed to the success of the event.

Paper Presentation Feedback:

• Dr.P M Malini , in charge of the paper presentation competition session, observed that competition papers were of substandard quality and suggested stricter screening criteria for the future conferences.

• General paper presentations were well conducted.

• Dr. Bindu C.M. raised concerns about the quality and relevance of competition papers.

• Dr K Y Benedict and Dr. Anvar K stressed the need for increased participation from CTEF members in the future conferences as well.

Conference final Review and Participation Concerns:

• The Chairman emphasized the need for re-evaluation and increased participation from CTEF members in future conferences.

• Dr. T. Sundareshan Nair commended that not only positive reviews but weaknesses also should be pointed out in review meeting.

• Dr Anil kumar K P gave a very comprehensive report detailing the strengths, weaknesses, and challenges encountered in the conference.

Programmes detailing:

• Prof. Mohan Menon’s session on Implementation Challenges on ITEP was praised for its structure and content. Dr V Reghu, Prof Muhammed Alias Mustafa, Dr Praveen, Dr Pramod Dinakar were appreciated for their detailed presentation of the theme under each head.

Management and Technical Support:

• The financial strain on the host college was noted, and recommendations were made to increase funding and sponsorships for future events.

• Prof. Jacob Matthew commended the management support from Devaki Amma Memorial College of Education, Chelambra, while stressing the need for improved academic engagement.

• Dr. K.S. Sajan praised the college’s technological support, including YouTube live streaming and sound system arrangements.

• Issues regarding certificate generation were identified, with recommendations for a more streamlined process in future conferences.

• Future Recommendations:

• Dr. Anil Kumar K P suggested to take steps for increasing offline participation and including more international speakers for future conventions.

• Constructive feedback and recommendations were acknowledged by the Chairman who emphasized that in the future programmes the weaknesses found out may be remedied and improvements may be carried out in paper presentation competition standards next convention onwards.

• Membership expansion was discussed, with Dr. Premachandran proposing the launch of a membership campaign.

• Dr. K.Y. Benedict recommended a three-month submission period for competition papers, improved selection processes, and withholding best paper awards if quality standards were not met.

Conclusion

 Due to time constraints, only the first agendum received thorough discussion. The chairman proposed scheduling a follow up meeting to continue with the remaining agenda between April 15 th and 20th 2025.

The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Premachandran P., Treasurer, CTEF Kerala. He, after giving a short review of the conference, emphasized the importance of refining strategies for future Annual conferences to enhance participation, quality, and organizational efficiency. The meeting concluded at 8.45 pm.

The National Conference on "Empowering Future Educators

 The National Conference on "Empowering Future Educators for  Sustainable Development: Innovations, Practices, and Challenges" will be held on December 17 & 18, 2024, at St. Joseph’s Training College, Pavaratty, Kerala. Organized by IQAC St Joseph’s Training College in collaboration with the Council For Teacher Education Foundation Kerala State and Navajyothi College of Teacher Education for Women, the conference aims to explore innovative pedagogical approaches, promote capacity building for educators, and address challenges in sustainability education. CTEF AWARDS 2024 APPLICATION FORM

 Dear Friends,

Hope you have seen the brochure of our International Conference and Annual Convention to be held at Devaki Amma Memorial Teacher Education College, Chelembra on 13th, 14th and 15th of February 2025.
As the Chairman of the Award Committee, I request all of you to go through the brochure and if you want to apply for any of the Awards, please read the attached Manual of Awards carefully and apply before the deadline (5th December 2024 online submission and 10th December for the submission of hard copy by post).
You can apply for a maximum of three Awards, but for each Award, a separate application with supporting documents should be submitted both in hard and soft copies.
 For soft copy submission, please click the link provided, fill up the form and submit. For hard copy submission, please go through the manual and prepare a typed application based on the items given in the Manual for your concerned Award, attach copies of supporting documents and send it to the General Secretary CTEF Kerala, Prof (Dr) Nimmi Maria Oommen by post to the address given in the Manual.
