 REPORT OF CTEF KERALA CHAPTER ANNUAL AWARDS

(January 19, 2024, at Peet Memorial Training College, Mavelikara)


The annual award distribution ceremony of CTEF Kerala was held on January 19, 2024 at 4:30 pm at Peet Memorial Training College, Mavelikara, followed by the second-day activities of the Three-Day International Conference on Education 5.0 and the 22nd Annual Convention of CTEF organized by the College and CTEF Kerala in collaboration with Council for Educational Administration and management (CEAM), Kerala. The main agenda of the meeting are given below.

The morning unfolded with impactful addresses, starting with the Presidential Address by Dr. M. S. Geetha, Former Dean of the Faculty of Education at the University of Kerala and Chairperson of CTEF Kerala and Dr. Jayaprakash R. K., the Director of SCERT, Kerala, delivered an insightful Inaugural Address at. This was followed by the online Keynote Address from Prof. (Mag) Dr. Birgit Phillips of the University of Graz, Austria. The session continued with the Presentation of Awards and the Release of Publications, skillfully handled by Dr. Pramod Dinakar. Dr. K Rajeswari and Dr. Nimmi Maria Oommen were given the CTEF Kerala and CTEF South Zone Awards, respectively. Dr. Anila Chacko, an Executive member of CTEF Kerala, presided over the release of books and newsletters, and Dr. K. S. Sajan launched the CTEF Kerala website. Notably, our institution considers it a great pride to receive the prestigious Dr ND Joshy Award for Institutional Excellence, recognizing our commitment and achievements, especially at such an important stage.The midday segment featured two distinguished memorial lectures. Dr. N.P. Pillai Memorial Lecture was delivered by Dr. Grace Annie Mathews, Patron of CTEF Kerala, and Former Principal of Peet Memorial Training College. This was followed by Dr. K. Sivadasan Pillai Memorial Lecture presented by Dr. T K Mathew, Advisory Board member of CTEF Kerala and Former Principal of Titus II Teacher's College, Thiruvalla. Words of Appreciation were expressed by Dr. VM Sasikumar, Prof K Jacob Mathew, and Dr. Anvar K, acknowledging the contributions of various individuals to the seminar. The forenoon session was concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks by Dr. Pramod Dinakar, the Organising Secretary of the conference, expressing gratitude to all participants, organizers, and contributors for making the second day of the seminar a resounding success.

The afternoon session commenced with a Symposium on the theme "Execution of National Education Policy 2020: Dilemmas and Potentialities," moderated by Prof. Dr. V Reghu. Distinguished speakers, including Prof Geetha Janet Vitus, Prof Asha J V, Dr. Sushanta Kumar Panda, Dr. Naisal S.A., and Dr. Saramma Chandy, provided valuable insights about the merits and demerits and other challenges that exist while implementing NEP 2020 into the academic curriculum of various tiers of the education system. Parallel to the symposium, a paper presentation competition unfolded in the second venue, to provide an opportunity to hone communication skills and to develop the ability to think out of the box. The judges for the competition include Dr.Sam V Daniel, Dr.Vijayalakshmi and Dr.Rajeswari S.   The diverse topics presented during the competition showcased the expansive scope of research interests within the education community. Nine paper presentations contributed a unique perspective to the collective discourse. The breadth of topics covered was impressive, ranging from understanding the attitudes of adolescents towards technology to exploring the impact of task-based language teaching on writing skills. Additionally, themes like child-parent connectedness, gender-related topics in higher secondary school curricula, addressing learning gaps during the COVID-19 pandemic, experimental learning approaches, and the application of mindfulness-based cognitive therapy for stress reduction among high school students added depth to the discussions. These presentations not only demonstrated the diversity of research interests but also underscored the relevance of each topic in addressing contemporary challenges within the education landscape. The General Body meeting of CTEF Kerala took place, setting the stage for collaborative discussions and future initiatives. The evening unfolded as a vibrant celebration of cultural events, with students from our college taking the lead in organizing and participating in various initiatives. A lively ramp walk showcased students adorned in traditional costumes, capturing the essence of Kerala's cultural diversity. The program also featured captivating displays of traditional martial arts and various other arts and dance forms, collectively creating a festive and dynamic atmosphere.
