 MINUTES OF THE SECOND GENERAL BODY MEETING

(January 19, 2024, at Peet Memorial Training College, Mavelikara)


The second General Body Meeting was held on January 19, 2024 at 4:30 pm at Peet Memorial Training College, Mavelikara, at the Three-Day International Conference on Education 5.0 and the 22nd Annual Convention of CTEF organized by the College and CTEF Kerala in collaboration with Council for Educational Administration and Management (CEAM), Kerala.     The meeting started at 4:15 pm at the PMTC Auditorium with a silent prayer.


    Dr. M.S. Geetha, Chairman CTEF,  initiated the session and observed a one-minute silence as homage to the Late Prof. Dr A Sukumaran Nair who left us on January 8, 2024. Prof Dr Reghu spoke a few words commemorating Prof A Sukumaran Nair.


    1. The Annual Report of 2023 was read out by Dr. Anu Mukund, Secretary (Office), CTEF Kerala.

    2. The accounts were presented by Dr. Premachandran P., Treasurer, CTEF Kerala.


    The following points were discussed further. 

    1. More MOUs with institutions are to be made.

    2. Some institutional members does not exist now. Find out such institutions before informing about the MoU signing.

    3. There are currently 979 individual memberships and 42 Institutional memberships.

    4. More collaborative activities are to be planned with Colleges of Teacher education in all sectors.

    5. The talk series ‘Free Voice’ initiated by Peet Memorial Training College, Mavelikkara needs to be revived.

    6. The book review series, ‘Book Nook - Words and Worlds’, by NVKSD CE is continuing which started with a research-based book in collaboration with  CTEF, Kerala and Tamil Nadu and AIRIO.

    7. Prof. Dr. Rajeswari K and Dr Velayudhan Nair T. were congratulated for their efforts in organising the talk series ‘Free Voice’ and  Book Nook - Words and Worlds.

    8. Dr Mariamma Mathew, Dr Velayudhan Nair, Dr Sony Mary Varghese and all other committee conveners were congratulated for their efforts in arranging and managing the Annual Convention and the entire Conference.

    9. Next venue of annual convention requests are expected.

    10. Dr. Anu Mukund and Dr Premachandran's services were appreciated and marked commendable.

    11. Dr Sundaresan Nair suggested to present the accounts yearly and not monthly. He also suggested that in every annual General Body Meeting, the list of future plans may also be included and presented.

    12. Things  ratified:

      1. Award Committee’s suggestion to increase the 5 marks given for CTEF members (according to their merit) while calculating the total score to 20 marks, may be

        1. considered, provided the criteria and marks for their involvement in CTEF activities may be announced at the earliest.

        2. The decision taken by the ECM for the Best Teacher Educator Award at ITE (Institute of Teacher Education) 2023 onwards (for Citation + certificate the amount to be sponsored by Dr V M Sasikumar every year) was also ratified.


        Decisions Taken:

        1. Names of the new members are to be included in the  Minutes book,  Annual Report and also in the Accounts.

        2. The Award Committee has to give the suggestions in writing with regard to the marks to be given to CTEF members while considering for awards. Marks, if to be increased from 5 to 20, there should be criteria for distributing the 20 Marks. The criteria have to be specified by the Award Committee and given in writing. Prof. Dr. Rajeswari and Ex-Officio Members were entrusted to finalise this criteria.

        3. There needs to be representatives of CTEF Kerala in all the districts to organise programmes. 

        4. Dr Anu Krishnan R showed interest in sponsoring an amount of Rs 1001/- as an Award for the top scorer in TEIs in Thiruvananthapuram district. The general body agreed to this sponsorship and suggested him to give a request in writing about the details of payment so that it would be passed in the next ECM and come into effect 2024-25 Awards onwards.


        The meeting concluded at 5:30 pm with a vote of thanks by Dr Premachandran P.
