A report of the two day International Seminar on’ Excellence in Education -Deciphering the Creative Potentials of Knowledge Transfer’ jointly organized by NVKSD College of Education, Attoor, in collaboration with IQAC&Alumni Association of NVKSD College of Education, CEAM, AIRIO, CTEF Kerala and Tamil Nadu chapters. The seminar was on 15 th and 16 th of December in offline and online mode.
Day 1 of the International Seminar was held at the NVKSD College Auditorium in an offline mode. It started with the college prayer followed by the lighting of the kuthuvilakku. The seminar was presided over by Adv.S. Krishna Kumar, Secretary of NVKS Educational Society.The Principal Dr. S. Sreelatha, welcomed all the dignitaries and the gathering.We are honoured by the presence of Dr. S. L.Rayar, Former Principal of J. P. College of Arts&Science, Thenkasi who inaugurated the seminar and delivered the inaugural speech .In his speech he gave a glimpse of what true educational excellence meant.Dr. K. Rajeswari Professor and Head, Centre for Research and Development ,NVKSD College of Education enlightened the dignitaries with an overview of the seminar. The felicitations were given by Dr. R. Mukundan, Former Principal &Academic Advisor of NVKSD College of Education and Dr V.M. Sasi Kumar, National President CEAM(Council for Educational Administration and Management). The International Conference staged for another remarkable event-it was the formal signing of Memorandum of Understanding between NVKSD College of Education and CEAM (Council for Educational Administration and Management).The Abstracts of the articles was released in the form of abstract proceedings in the inaugural session.Adv. S. Krishna Kumar, Secretary of the college honoured the Chief guest.Dr. Raghi P. Nair. Dean ,NVKSD College of Education proposed the vote ofthanks.
The two day conference comprised four thematic session, five technical session of which a few of them scheduled concurrently.
15 December, the Day 1
Dr M. S. Geetha, FormerDean, University of Kerala,and Chairperson, CTEF, Kerala, was the resource person for Thematic session I. She highlighted the significance of NEP and signified the integration of NEP 2020 in STEM education.Dr. R. P. Deepa, Assistant Professor, NVKSD College welcomed the resource person.The three technical sessions were also held on the same day. The sessions were chaired by Dr. G. Valsala, Former Principal, IASE, Thrissur and Chairperson CEAM, Kerala chapter, Dr. Raghi.P. Nair, Dean, NVKSD College of Education , Dr. V.P. Bindu Gouri, Dr. R.P. Deepa, Dr. K. G. Gireesh Kumar and Dr. S. Praveen Kumar, Assistant Professors of NVKSD College of Education.The welcome address and vote of thanks of the different sessionswere given by Ms.Soumya, MS. ,Ms C Sreelakshmi, Mr. Mahesh Kumar, and Mr.E Jeba Starwin, the Ph. D. Research Scholars of NVKSD College of Education.
16 December, the Day 2
The seminar commenced in the online mode in the second day. After invoking the god with the college prayer, the seminar moved into its theme presentation. Dr. Nimmi Maria Oommen, Departmentof Education, Titus Teacher Education College, Thiruvalla and the general secretary, CEAM and Alumni of NVKSD College was the resource person. How women can be empowered through the education was the theme upon which she has delibrated her talk on. Dr V.P. Bindu Gowri, Assistant Professor, NVKSD College of Education and Ms. Sangeetha.G.S., Ph. D research scholar welcomed and thanked the resource person.
Thematic Session III was for Lady Carla Davis, South Seas University. Her recorded version of video presentation was embedded with her suggestion and observation on measures of quality sustenance to reach to the height of excellence. Ms. Merlin Malar the Ph.D. research scholor was the rapporteur of the session.
Thematic session IV was by Dr. Bharat Prasad Neupane, Associate Professor, Department of Language Education, School of Education, KathmanduUniversity. He emphasized the roadmap towards quality maintenance to reach to academic excellence.Dr. V.S. Pavitrakumar, Assistant professor NVKSD College of Education and Ms. Sonia ,Ph.D. research scholor welcomed and thanked the resource person.
Panel discussion followed next. The moderator of the session was Dr. Asha.J.V.Professor and Head ,School of Pedagogical Science, Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Kerala. Other panelists were Dr. Madhuri Isave, AssociateProfessor, Tilak College of Education, Pune, Dr.N. Johnson, HOD, Department of LifelongLearning, Faculty of Education, AlagappaUniversity,Karaikudi and the Chairmam, CTEF TamilNadu, Dr.S. Lenin, Assistant Professor, Department of Education, M.S. University, Tirunelvel and Alumni of NVKSD College and Dr. Shnaoli Chakraborty Acharya, Assistant Professor, Department of Education, West Bengal State University, Kolkata. Thematically relevant topics were discussed in the panel discussion session.Ms. V.S. Vidhya, Assistant professor, and Dr.K.P. Kannan, the Director of Physical Education welcomed and thanked the session.
The Two Technical sessions (Online) which were conducted parallelly followed next.Dr A.Lekshmi,Associate Professsor,N.S.S.College ,Pandalam,Dr Premachandran,Assistant Professor,New Navajyothy College of Education,Thrissur supported by the faculty of N.V.K.S.D.College of Education were the Chairpersons of the sessions.
Dr Jojan Mathew ,Principal,GVM’s Dr Dada Vaidhya College of Education,Ponda ,Goa, and Chairperson Goa chapter ,AIRIO deliverved the Validictory Address .The seminar witnessed the participation of more than 200 participants offline and online and include nearly 50 paper presentations.
Dr S.Devika, and Ms Rejee M.K. Nair ,Assisyant Professors of NVKSD College of Education were the organising Secretaries of the seminar .The masters of the ceremony in the International seminar were Ms. Saritha C Babu, Ms. Sangeetha G.S., Ms. Merlin Malar, Ms. Arya Gouri Raj. R. and Ms. Adithi.R.H. The seminar was volunteered by Ph D research scholars,M Ed I,M Ed II, B Ed I, and B Ed II year students of NVKSD College of Education.Mr.G. Biju Mohan the computer instructor provided the technical support for the seminar. The seminar was supported by Adv. S. Krishna Kumar, the secretary of NVKSD College of Educational Societyand all the eminent members of the management, and all other academic and administrative staff of NVKSD College of Education. The renowned educationist of CEAM, CTEF and AIRIO provided logistic guidance to the seminar. The presence of the educationalist Dr.B.C. Sobha, former Principalof NVKSD College of Education, Dr. Xavier Dass, Retd professor, St Jude’s College of Arts and Science,Thoothoor and Dr. Ramachandran Nair, Academic Advisor, N.V.K.S.H.S.S. Attoor ignited the seminar. To conclude, by the grace of Nalloor Vettuveni Kandan Sasta, the two day International Seminar was very productive and informative.
